The main body in Russia regulating the sphere of professional breeders of purebred dogs is the Russian Cynological Federation or RKF. There are similar organizations in almost all states, they cooperate with each other and maintain the same standards. Thanks to this, animals can easily emigrate from one country to another. If one of the organizations has recognized their right to breed, then the other will confirm this.

The breeder encounters RKF quite often. It is their representatives who assess the level of the animal at exhibitions and prepare documents for young puppies.

• Breeding work can only be carried out by nurseries and breeders who are officially registered in the system and have a special book of records drawn up according to the model.
• Purebred origin of both parents.
• You can only knit animals that have visited exhibitions, included in a special list and received the title of champion there or marked with a diploma with the specified judge's rating not lower than "Very good"

• Age limit. Bitches are allowed not earlier than 2-second estrus and not younger than a certain age, individual for each breed. Upon reaching the age of 8, the female is removed from breeding. For males, the rules are softer. A male has the right to participate in mating at 1.2 years for small, and at 1.5-1.8 years for medium and large. In this case, the upper bar is not installed.
• Frequency. You won't be able to knit a bitch with every heat. Only individuals with an age difference of at least six months are registered. Moreover, if the previous two litters were marked with a difference of 6 months, then the offspring from this sire will not be recorded for another 365 days. Depending on the breed, the dog is knitted only 6-8 times, no more.

Even if the parents are both champions from good lines, this does not guarantee that the entire litter will be rated as highly. At about 1.5 months, representatives of the RKF conduct an examination and check of the litter and individuals with deviations from the standard are rejected. It is no longer possible to let such puppies into breeding, they will not participate in exhibitions.

The only thing that can be done with them is to sell them to private hands as a pet. In most cases, such animals are castrated before being handed over to a new owner. Logically, those who have not carried out the test are much cheaper than their healthier counterparts.

The layman, who has not completely immersed himself and does not know all the intricacies of the dog breeding business, has several persistent myths that make him believe that there is nothing difficult in this, it is enough to have a thoroughbred pet and the ability to mate her with a suitable dog. However, this is not quite true:

• Even a single birth of a domestic dog is a big financial investment, wasted time, and nerves with a not guaranteed successful result. Moreover, without conducting sufficient veterinary research or with an unfortunate combination of circumstances, there is a risk of significantly deteriorating the health of the animal.
• A dog with documents is not yet the basis for starting a business. After all, this is not enough to get the quoted offspring. It is necessary to constantly keep in touch with nurseries, participate in exhibitions, and regularly occupy prominent places in them. Regularly undergo examination by veterinarians, do all vaccinations and treatment against parasites on time. To undergo additional expensive examinations to identify hidden diseases that are inherited.
• Puppies - it's easy and does not require much exertion. Yes, the mother dog does it herself in the first weeks. However, it needs constant monitoring. And after the puppies begin to actively move around the house, a large amount of cleaning and feeding is also added.
